Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. increased its quarterly dividend to $1.435 per share from $1.03, a 39.32% rise. The shares began trading ex-dividend on Sept. 8, 2026.

At the new rate, the annualized dividend is $5.74 per share. That equates to a forward annual yield of 7.51% based on a share price of $75.66.

SQM described the distribution as an interim dividend charged against 2026 net income. The company’s announcement did not provide a separate explanation for the increase. SQM’s dividend announcement

Stronger lithium results provide context

The higher payout follows a sharp improvement in SQM’s operating results. The Chilean producer reported net income of $1.0247 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared with $225.9 million in the corresponding prior-year period. Revenue more than doubled to $4.2285 billion from $2.0793 billion. SQM’s second-quarter earnings release

Lithium and derivatives were the principal contributor, accounting for 78% of consolidated gross profit during the first half. SQM said quarterly lithium sales volumes reached a record, while stronger-than-expected market demand supported higher prices. The company specifically cited demand from battery energy-storage systems as helping offset slower growth in the battery-electric-vehicle market. SQM’s second-quarter earnings release

SQM operates across lithium, iodine, specialty plant nutrients, potassium and industrial chemicals. Its Chilean lithium operations are conducted through Nova Andino Litio, its joint company with state-owned Codelco, while its Australian operations include a partnership with Wesfarmers. What it means for income investors

The increase raises SQM’s prospective cash income, but it does not establish a consecutive annual growth streak: the company has zero consecutive growth years in the locked data and previously cut its dividend in 2021.

The 7.51% forward yield is therefore accompanied by a dividend safety score of 46 out of 100 and a grade of D. For income-focused shareholders, those measures underscore that the payout has less demonstrated stability than a long-running dividend-growth record, particularly given SQM’s exposure to cyclical lithium and commodity markets.
