H&R Block Raises Quarterly Dividend 9.52% to $0.46
H&R Block lifted its quarterly payout from $0.42 to $0.46, extending its dividend-growth streak to 10 consecutive years.
HRB — H&R Block, Inc.
H&R Block Inc. (NYSE: HRB) increased its quarterly dividend to $0.46 per share from $0.42, a 9.52% rise. The shares traded ex-dividend on Sept. 3, 2026.
The new rate equates to an annual dividend of $1.84 per share. Based on a share price of $51.10, the stock carries a forward annual yield of 3.61%. H&R Block’s dividend history confirms the step-up from the previous quarterly rate.
Business and dividend context
The increase extends H&R Block’s dividend-growth streak to 10 consecutive years. The company previously reduced its dividend in 1997. H&R Block also says it has maintained uninterrupted quarterly payouts since becoming publicly traded in 1962, giving the tax-preparation company a long record of returning cash to shareholders.
The higher distribution was announced alongside H&R Block’s fiscal 2026 results. Revenue rose 4.9% to $3.95 billion, helped by higher pricing and company-owned volume in U.S. assisted tax preparation, international growth, and gains in subscriptions and payments at its Wave small-business unit. Adjusted earnings per share increased 13.9% to $5.31, while the company said operating cash flow also strengthened during the year. H&R Block’s results release attributed the operating improvement to stronger execution and progress in its expert-led, technology-enabled strategy.
H&R Block’s core business includes assisted and do-it-yourself tax preparation. It also offers financial products and serves small businesses through Block Advisors and Wave. The company’s earnings and cash generation are seasonal because much of its tax-preparation activity is concentrated around filing season.
Management has paired dividends with share repurchases as part of its capital-allocation program. During fiscal 2026, H&R Block said it repurchased approximately 10.5 million shares for $500.3 million and returned $713.7 million to shareholders through dividends and buybacks.
What it means for income investors
At the new quarterly rate, shareholders receive an indicated $1.84 per share annually before taxes, assuming the dividend remains unchanged. The 3.61% forward yield reflects the stated $51.10 share price and will move as the stock price changes.
H&R Block carries a dividend safety score of 91 out of 100 and an A safety grade. Those measures indicate a comparatively strong payout profile, though they do not guarantee that future dividends will be maintained or increased.
