Hilltop Holdings Raises Quarterly Dividend 10% to $0.22

Hilltop Holdings Inc. (NYSE: HTH) increased its quarterly dividend by 10% to $0.22 per share from $0.20. The ex-dividend date was Aug. 7, 2026.

The increase extends the financial-services company’s dividend-growth streak to eight consecutive years. Hilltop previously reduced its dividend in 2017.

The higher payout accompanied Hilltop’s second-quarter results. The Dallas-based company said its banking operation benefited from core loan growth and a wider net interest margin, while its mortgage business encountered a subdued start to the summer home-buying season as mortgage rates increased. Wealth management and structured finance supported results at its securities division. Chairman, President and CEO Jeremy Ford said Hilltop remained focused on executing its strategic priorities, prudently managing capital and creating long-term shareholder value.

Hilltop had also returned capital through share repurchases during the quarter, showing that the dividend increase was part of a broader capital-allocation program. In its full-year 2025 report, management said all three business lines improved their pretax results from the prior year, with PlainsCapital Bank recording loan and deposit growth, PrimeLending reducing its operating loss and HilltopSecurities benefiting from strength in several business lines. Hilltop’s full-year release also emphasized prudent capital management entering 2026.

Hilltop’s main business is commercial and consumer banking in Texas through PlainsCapital Bank. PrimeLending provides residential mortgage services nationwide, while HilltopSecurities and Momentum Independent Network offer brokerage, investment banking, clearing and financial-advisory services. The company describes itself as a Dallas-based financial holding company.

What it means for income investors

At a share price of $38.67, Hilltop’s stated forward annual yield is 2.07%. The locked data list annual dividends of $0.80 per share and assign the payout a dividend-safety score of 71 out of 100, equivalent to a B grade.

The increase raises near-term quarterly income and preserves Hilltop’s eight-year growth record. Investors assessing the payout’s durability may also monitor the performance of PlainsCapital Bank, the interest-rate-sensitive mortgage operation and the company’s continuing use of capital for share repurchases.
